SWELL FAQs

If I change out the tube, 12AY7 in a G-Drive for a 12AX7 will it now become a G-TOD?

No it will not. It continues to be a G-Drive but will have more available gain. This holds true for all SWELL pedals as their circuits (voicing, etc.) are different from one model to the next.

Will adjustments to the Drive 1 control (turning it up or down) affect Drive 2?

No it will not. Adding or reducing the amount of gain with either Drive control will not have an effect on the other in any way. Drive 1 and Drive 2 operate completely independent from one another.

What are clipping diodes?

Solid state components used to create distortion. SWELL Pedal circuits do not contain these as the gain/overdrive/distortion is created solely by the vacuum tube located in each SWELL pedal.

If I have a problem with my SWELL pedal how do I get it corrected?

Contact SWELL to first receive a RA number and then send it back to SWELL for repair or replacement. ALL warranty work/repairs are done here at the SWELL shop.

Are SWELL pedals stackable (engaging two or more pedals at once)?

Yes all SWELL pedals works very well with each other and also with other brands of effects.

What are the dimensions of a SWELL pedal?

  • Width: 5-3/4"
  • Length: 3-3/4"
  • Height: 2-5/8"

Are there digital components or processes in any SWELL pedals?

No all SWELL pedals are 100% analog and contain no digital components and this insures your tone is unchanged and will remain your tone.

What does True Bypass switching mean?

True Bypass switching means that when the bypass switch is in the bypass position (pedal disengaged), the effect circuit is entirely disconnected from the guitar’s signal path. The unaltered signal passes from the pedal input to pedal output only passing through wire and switch contacts. True bypass is the standard of clean signal quality and insures your tone is unchanged and will remain your tone.

What is the best way to contact SWELL Pedals?

Email is the best way to contact SWELL for any and all inquires.

Can the record out be connected to the input of an amplifier?

Yes it can and no damage will occur. The Record Out is voiced differently (speaker simulated) than the Amp Out and is yet another tonal option at your disposal.

When my G-TOD is on it gets warm…is this OK?

Yes it is OK and also intentional/by designs. The vacuum tube in each SWELL pedal generates heat. This heat is drawn to and then dissipated by the aluminum enclosure. The aluminum enclosure acts like a heat sink in this way and also supplies complete RF shielding.

Can I use a power brick to supply power to my G-Pro?

Yes you can. The following products will work with SWELL Pedal products:
